Designer Dr.Martens

Klaus Märten was a doctor in Germany during W.W.II While on leave in 1945 he injured his ankle while skiing in the Bavarian Alps. He found that his standard-issue army boots were too uncomfortable on his injured foot. While recuperating, he designed improvements to the boots, with soft leather, and air-padded soles. When the war ended and some Germans looted valuables from their own cities, Märtens took leather from a cobbler's shop. With that leather he made himself a pair of boots with air-cushioned soles.
Märtens didn't have much luck selling his shoes until he met up with an old university friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, in Munich in 1947. Funck was intrigued by the new shoe design, and the two went into business that year in Seeshaupt, Germany, using discarded rubber from Luftwaffe airfields. The comfortable and durable soles were a big hit with housewives, with 80% of sales in the first decade going to women over the age of 40.
Sales had grown so much by 1952 that they opened a factory in Munich. In 1959, the company had grown large enough that Märtens and Funck looked at marketing the footwear internationally. Almost immediately, British shoe manufacturer R. Griggs Group Ltd. bought patent rights to manufacture the shoes in the United Kingdom. Griggs anglicized the name, slightly re-shaped the heel to make them fit better, added the trademark yellow stitching, and trademarked the soles as AirWair.
The first Dr. Martens boots in the United Kingdom came out on 1 April, 1960 (hence known as style 1460 and still in production today) with an eight-eyelet, cherry-red, Nappa leather design. Originally Dr. Martens were made by a number of shoe manufacturers in the Northamptonshire area, as long as they passed quality standards. They were popular among workers such as postmen, police officers and factory workers. By the late 1960s, skinheads started wearing Dr. Martens boots. By the late 1970s, Dr. Martens boots were popular among some British punk rock and New Wave musicians, and soon many punk fans were wearing them. The boots and shoes then became popular among other youth subcultures
Dr. Martens sponsored Rushden & amps; Diamonds F.C. from 1998 to 2003. When a new main stand was built at Nene Park in 2001, the stand was named the 'Airwair Stand' in recognition of the sponsorship link. In the 2000s, Dr. Martens were sold exclusively under the AirWair name, and came in dozens of different styles, including conventional black shoes, sandals and steel-toed boots.
On 1 April 2003, under pressure from declining sales, the Dr. Martens company ceased all production in the United Kingdom, [1] with production moved to China and Thailand With this change also came the end of the company's Vegan-friendly non-leather products, which were produced since January, 2000. In 2007, the company began producing footwear again in England, in the Cobbs Lane Factory in Wollaston. These products, the "Vintage" line which the company advertises as being made to the original specs, can be purchased at the Dr. Martens USA website or the Dr. Martens UK website. The last few seasons such designers names as Yohji Yamamoto, Stussy and Raf Simon have join in collaboration with the iconic brand to produce designer Doc Martens but keeping to the original standards of the legendary boot. Nerdy Stylishness/Geek chic Trend

Nerd, geeks, dweebs, poindexters, and dorks rejoice; you are at the height of fashion. Your flannel shirts, bow ties oversized spectacles, cardigan sweaters and calculator wristwatches are making a comeback so huge, you’ll need a T9 to calculate it. Designers labels like Gucci, Thom Browne, and D Squared are really enthusiastic about the geek chic look, and now the rest of the world is catching on.
Both wannabe nerds can take a walk on the mild side because this trend doesn’t discriminate; most geek chic attire is unisex. You can embrace your inner nerd by snatching up penny loafers,Topsiders, sweater vests, suspenders, and short sleeved button downs at your local vintage shop, thrift or Designer Boutique.
The nerd trend is in this season but just don’t go overboard; your friends will appreciate your nerdy stylishness, but it may go unnoticed if you start speaking in binary code.

Choosing the right beard shape for your face.

Properly trimmed and shaped facial hair can go a long way to enhance desirable facial features or take emphasis off weaknesses. While each face will have its own special considerations such as size of mouth, nose, and jawline, there are some general rules for choosing the right facial hair for your face type. Let's look at each.
The Round Face
When shaping the beard for a round face, go a bit longer at the chin to add length and make the face appear less round. Avoid bushy sideburns and keep the sides of the beard short. In lieu of a full beard, a goatee is often a good option for a round face.
The Long Face
Exactly opposite of the round face, the long face requires a beard which is fuller at the sides and shorter at the chin. The goal here is to add width to the sides and make the face appear less long. Make sure to avoid abrupt changes in length so the shaping is not obvious.
The Square Face
Similar to shaping a beard for a long face, the beard for a square face should be shorter at the sides and longer at the chin to add length to the face. Once again, a goatee is also a good option for men with square faces.
The Large Face
Since the face is large, any small facial hair or beard will appear out of proportion and make the face appear bigger. Keep the beard fuller and the mustache larger. Also follow the rules above for the appropriate face shape.
The Small Face
Small faces require small facial hair. Larger, fuller styles will make the face get lost and appear out of proportion. Also follow the rules above for the appropriate face shape.
The Oval Face
You lucky man! The oval face shape is considered the ideal shape and requires no special shaping to balance facial features. Do whatever you like and you'll look great.
So if it's going to be a beard this season makes sure it's the right shape, so then the only thing you have to worry about is not getting food hung in it.
